Anja Potze is the Dutch powerhouse behind Anja Potze Fine Jewellery, an award-winning independent jewellers based on historic Friar Street in the heart of beautiful Worcester.
Anja moved to the UK from her native Netherlands when she was just 21 after perfecting her craft at Amsterdam's respected Vak School of Edelsmeden. At first she worked for a small number of high end jewellers, including five years with London based Asprey & Garrard Group, where her customers included the late Baroness Thatcher amongst other notable names.
In 1994, Anja struck out alone and founded Anja Potze Fine Jewellery, specialising in jewellery made from certified diamonds and the finest Tahitian, South Sea and cultured pearls, which she buys from reputable suppliers all around the world. She also employs an in-house jewellery designer, Laura Golborne, who can remodel old jewellery and design new pieces to your exact specification.
In 2013 Anja Potze Fine Jewellery moved to a new larger shop just six doors down from the original shop on Friar street. This enabled her to create a more relaxing shopping experience for her clients and to expand with new lines of jewellery.
To complement the jewellery which is designed and handmade for her own lines, Anja has chosen to stock just six lines from the UK and Italy. To represent our own shores are jewellery designers, Dower & Hall, London Road, Deakin & Francis and Diamond By Appointment. Italian designers Fope and Ponte Vecchio complete the current list. Anja makes regular visits to all her suppliers to choose from their latest collections, selecting pieces that she feels best fit her clientele.
Anja herself takes great pride in being one of Worcester's independent traders and has immersed herself in all things Worcester. She is a proud sponsor of the Worcester Severn Stars, Worcester Warriors, and Worcestershire County Cricket Club. Anja is also a member of the Worcestershire Ambassadors and an active Worcester BID member. She enthusiastically supports The Haven, Worcester Hospital's Breast Cancer Unit and regularly holds and supports fund-raising events for this worthwhile cause. In 2016 Anja became a Patron of CG5, a Worcestershire non-profit making organisation whose aim is to help as many young people or disabled participants as possible reach their full potential through inclusion in sport.
In 2015, Anja started working with the students and staff at the Tudor Grange Academy, Worcester, and was a governor for two years. In May 2017 her charitable work was recognised when she won the 'Heart of Gold' award in the national Small Business Awards, for her ongoing commitment and generosity to Worcester and Worcestershire causes.
